YOU ARE A POWERHOUSE

Let me prove it to you.

While my education and experience as a physical therapist hasn’t made me immune to pain, injury, aging, or the rollercoaster of thoughts and emotions that accompany these experiences, it has helped me come to realize some key things about being human. The most important is that we are incredibly resilient and adaptable!

Hey, I’m Tori.

I help former athletes navigate chronic pain and build sustainable health habits so they can live their best lives!

I’m a Doctor of Physical Therapy living in Sacramento, CA with a special interest in treating orthopedic conditions, sports injuries, and chronic pain. After earning my Bachelors of Science in Exercise Physiology from California State University, Chico in 2016, I went on to graduate from Northern Arizona University with my Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2018.

Unfortunately, after just one year working as a full-time physical therapist, I was already on the brink of burn out. When the COVID pandemic started, I was forced to pause and reconsider what I wanted my life look like, both in and outside of work.

I realized how deeply unsatisfying it was to be part of a healthcare system that was built to profit insurance companies at the expense of patients and healthcare workers, and I was tired of being part of a passive system that reacts to injury and illness instead of proactively supporting health and well-being.

This, combined with the limitations of insurance-based physical therapy services and the alarmingly high prevalence of outdated and low-quality care for athletes in many rehab facilities, left me struggling to find work that felt fulfilling and impactful.

I eventually came to the conclusion that in order to make a dent in the chronic pain crisis and live my best life while helping others live theirs, I would have to be part of the change and create something new. At Fortitude Physical Therapy and Wellness, I’m committed to an evidence-based and fitness-forward practice that is centered on serving you as a whole human instead of just treating your painful or injured body part(s).

I created Fortitude to remind you of how powerful you are.

I know how moving your body with confidence can feel.

My experience both as an athlete and as a physical therapist has taught me that we can harness the connection between mind and body in order to minimize suffering and maximize health. And I’m ready to equip you with the tools and information you’ll need to be able to do this for yourself.

And the best part is, all of this can happen from the comfort and privacy of your own home!

No need to carve out extra time in your day to commute to a clinic, and no need to follow cookie-cutter exercise programs that aren’t tailored to you or your goals. At Fortitude, I utilize online platforms for video consultations, personalized exercise programming, and communication that allow for quick and easy access to my feedback and support.

Ready to get started?

Online Rehab Consultation

*This option is for California residents only!

After your free discovery session, we may have come to the conclusion that you would benefit from my help in a limited capacity. If you need a little bit of guidance on how to start or continue training around pain or how to improve your health and fitness after an injury, this online consultation gives you up to 60 minutes of 1:1 access to me so you can ask all of your burning questions and gain some clarity around your situation.

*This option does NOT include a personalized exercise program or follow up visits. This is just a one-time opportunity for general rehab guidance and training recommendations.

What you will need:

  • A laptop, computer, or smart-device with a front-facing camera and microphone

Online Rehab Coaching

*This option is for California residents only!

If we decide to work together after the discovery session, I will direct you to sign up for an initial consultation to start rehab coaching. This includes a 1:1 video call (60-90 minutes) where we will discuss your specific problem in detail and go through a movement screen with special attention to the area(s) of your body that’s bothering you.

Then, we will create a game plan for how to best help you reach your goals. This often includes education, lifestyle modifications, and an individualized exercise program that you access through an app on your phone. After the initial evaluation, I will check in with you weekly and you will have access to me online to ask questions for 4 weeks.

We will schedule follow up visits together depending on your needs and our collaborative plan. Most of my clients only book 1 follow up visit every 4 weeks, but if we need to meet more often than this you will be able to schedule further follow up visits at your convenience for an extra fee.

What you will need:

  • A laptop, computer, or smart-device with a front-facing camera and microphone

  • Internet access, ideally while other house members are NOT using streaming services (Netflix, Hulu, Video Games, etc.), as this can significantly reduce the quality of the video session

  • A private, quiet place without distractions and with some space to move around

Online Fitness Coaching

Whether your goal is to get back in shape for a race or recreational sport, gain strength and muscle/bone mass, reduce injury risk, or safely transition back into to a fitness program after an injury, a personalized exercise routine from a physical therapist may be exactly what you need. Many of my rehab coaching clients transition to this service after their pain or injury is addressed and well-managed.

If you are new to Fortitude, this service includes an initial 1:1 video call (60-90 minutes) where we will discuss your goals and current health behaviors and perform a brief movement screen to identify if you have any physical limitations that may need special attention. After this, we will collaborate to create a personalized fitness program and wellness plan to help you crush your goals and maximize your health.

What you will need:

  • A desktop, laptop, tablet, or smart-device with a front-facing camera and microphone

  • Internet access, ideally while other house members are NOT using streaming services (Netflix, Hulu, Video Games, etc.), as this can significantly reduce the quality of the video session

  • A private, quiet place without distractions and with some space to move around
